The Kocherlball needs no changing events calendar. Since its revival in 1989 it has followed one simple rule: always the third Sunday of July, always at 6 in the morning.

The 2027 date is also confirmed officially: the City of Munich lists the Kocherlball 2027 for Sunday, 18 July, 6 to 10 am. The city's Department of Arts and Culture co-organises the ball together with the operators of the beer garden at the Chinese Tower.

    The earliest guests claim spots at the long tables well before sunrise.

    The first waltz opens the ball in the first morning light.

    Waltz, polka, Zwiefacher and the guided group dances led by the dance master.

    Fade-out

    The ball winds down and the beer garden opens as usual.

Four hours, from 6 to 10 am. Afterwards the Chinese Tower returns to regular beer garden service.
Does the Kocherlball take place in the rain?
It is an open-air festival. Light drizzle is no obstacle; in severe weather it may be cut short or cancelled. For reliable updates on the weekend, check Munich's city media and the Instagram channel @chinesischerturm.
When is the Kocherlball 2028?
Following the third-Sunday-of-July rule, presumably 16 July 2028. The date becomes official once the city announces it.
